Notice how The ScarecrowAA is the only one obsessed over this? I have read nothing about it so far and until it comes into major print over here I aint worried. Well it was reported on major television networks over here, and depending on what you consider "major print" - it's already been put on the Sydney Morning Herald website - meaning it will more than likely be in that paper in a few hours time. But yes - maybe I'm the only one "obsessed" with it because I'm the only one who's see it every where. The only thing which now falls under "The Sun reports..." is where the alleged incident took place. As I've already said several times, it's been confirmed by the police that Bale is under investigation for assaulting his mother after she and his sister filed a complaint. That much is dead certain, it's only where the incident supposedly took place that's in question. |

It is on SKY News, CNN and FOX News, it is official. Should we blow it out of proportion? NO. But it is official, Christian Bale has been arrested on charges
of assualt. It is not just Scarecrow here...

You're saying that the entire story is fabricated...when the police have already said they're investigating it and bringing him in for questioning? You all seem to be acting like I'm saying his outwardly guilty. I'm not. EDIT: Find a more credible source than BBC... http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/7519689.stm I'll be accepting apologies for the rudeness.

TheScarecrowAA wrote: From that link "Mr Bale is alleged to have lashed out at his mother and sister in his suite at London's Dorchester Hotel on Sunday." Lashed out? That's a pretty loose way of putting things, don't ya think? Probably pushing and shouting. Some BS over his Hollywood persona not mixing with his family life or something. Personal/family issues that have no business going public.

CNN and Fox have reported that the Police have ARRESTED him on ALLEGATIONS of ASSAULT that is pretty serious. I think everyone needs stop underplaying this. It
is a viable story and a very negative one. Once again we shouldn't blow it out of proportion but it IS a real and negative story.
The Scarecrow AA is due a couple of apologies. Being arrested for assaulting your 61 year old mother is NEVER good news. |

No one ever listens to me :(. I also know a bit about law and I know that (over here at least) there doesn't need to any physical contact for assault to be proven and all you need to do is create fear in the complainant. Meaning that if British law is the same (I'm inclined to think it is because we inhereted a lot of their system) and Bale did "lash out", then a charge is very likely a conviction possible.

That ain't a good thing. I really hope this is a misunderstanding, but it won't affect my enjoyment of TDK at all.
Separate the actor from the part, and all that.

Someone buy scarecrow a beer.......dude were sorry! NO hard feelings....... :) This was absolute mind blowing, saw that in the morning but made nothing from it..............still I would like to see how it plays out. I wonder why mom and sister turned over the family member to the cops.......Some really serious Sh_t probably came down, guy is under lots of pressure, maybe was partying a little too much. Could have been buzzed! Who knows!! |

What worries me is that it is his family reporting it. If it were some random guy at a bar then it wouldn't worry me because:
a) the guy probably would have been acting like an idiot and; b) probably would have reported anything for the novelty/'fame'. But the fact it's his family and more specifically mother and sister makes me think something serious went down, plus all reports say he's being held which means that it's not something they could just dismiss. |

TheScarecrowAA wrote: I'm not positive on this but if he was acting in a physically threatening manner then an assault charge is possible, if not likely. However, that doesn't make it morally similar to if he gave his mother a black eye. If it was shouting and pushing then I find their reasoning in going to the police highly suspect.

The whole thing is fishy. Particularly how the police let him go to the premiere instead of being questioned because they didn't want to interupt his schedule for TDK, yet arrested him and prevented him from going to interviews for the film. WB won't be pleased. |

......Unless they publicly announce what happened or give an idea of what happened, which the shouldn't cause its a family affair, then I am very
skeptical, I am not sure what happened and if any of the charges are actually real. I do beleive he is in perfect spot for character assasination and
there's alot of monkey business that goes on behind the scenes....he could have been set up, no one knows..Just baffled that Mother and sister filed the
complaint.

I'm pretty sure that these things just become public domain. I don't think it will be private - never is when celebrities are involved.
The mother and sister is the scary thing - otherwise I wouldn't have cared that much. |

Bugul wrote: Considering Bale's mother is likely in her 60s, I don't blame them if they went to the police, if true. Shouting and pushing around a 60 year old woman is completely unacceptable behavior. There's no excusing that with "It's not like he gave her a black eye". Hopefully, it's just a misunderstanding.

Ah, something on which I'm qualified to speak:
On the subject of the alledged offence: In the UK, common assault means that the aggrieved must fear immediate injury from another person. No contact needs to have been made, it can just be the threat of violence. If there is contact made (light and non-injuring) it's classed as battery. If injury is incurred its ABH and if serious injury is incurred its GBH. Bale was arrested on common assault. The fact that it was arranged that he should answer to a police station today is not actually that uncommon. It does happen in certain circumstances (and not just to celebrities attending premieres). I believe he is currently being held in police custody with Met Pol and is being questioned.
